This 10 week course aims to introduce the Riq'a script to the learner.
Students will practice characteristic strokes and letter formation. Each session will provide an opportunity to develop the touch and skills required for mastering calligraphy.
The course will be delivered as a 2-hour weekly session over 10 weeks

Our bespoke Calligraphy course in Manchester
During the course we will be working with two particular 'fonts' or alphabet at the time in order to fully understand its characteristic strokes and letter formation. The work during each session will provide you with the opportunity of building your skills, offering plenty of support and encouragement to use what you have learnt in projects of your own.
The Instructor
Dr Faiezah Mohamed started learning Arabic calligraphy in Feb 2013 under senior calligraphist Hudhaifa Al-Awaidi. She earned her ‘Ijazah’ in December 2013 in Diwani Script. She was Awarded 'Th Golden Khanjar' in calligraphy in November 2014, which was presented to her by the UK ambassador of Oman.
She has taught many courses in different cities including Manchester, Liverpool and Sheffield. She is currently working on Seniority Rank in Calligraphy via LACA Honorary Seniority Program
Method of Intruction
Dr Faiezah will take the students through training steps to enable them to master each font. Excercises to condition the pen hand and gain balnce in using the reed pen will be given. She will be on hand to assist, advise and encourage the students to progress successfully through the course. With her experience and expertise the art of calligraphy will be brought to the students in piece-meal and slowly but surely students will enhance their writing skills.

Font Style and Materials
During the course you will have a chance to study the Riq'a font style. Students will be provided with all the resourses required including traditional Arabic calligraphy pens.
