Ustadh Amin Al-Astewani
Ustadh Amin was born and raised in Manchester. He began his Islamic studies at a young age and acquired the basics of the Arabic Language and studied doctrine and jurisprudence.
He descends from a family of notable scholars. His forefathers include Shaykh Shukri Al-Astewani, (Grand Mufti of Syria), Shaykh Abdul Muhsin Al-Astewani (Supreme Shari'ah Judge in Damascus) and Shaykh Zain Ud-Deen Al-Astewani (Grand Mufti of Damascus). His great grandfather Shaykh Mohammad Saleem Al-Astewani (d.1945) was a renowned Hanafite scholar in Damascus who accompanied the Hadith Master of the Levant Shaykh Badrud-Deen Al-Hasani for 36 years.
His ambition led him to take classes in classical texts including parts of Tafsir At-Tabari, Sahih Al-Bukhari, Al-Jawharah of Al-Laqqani and Al-Minhaaj Al-Qaweem of Ibn Hajar Al-Haytami. He is currently furthering his studies in Aqidah, Shafi’i Fiqh, Hadith, Arabic, Logic and Tajweed with his teachers, including Shaykh Waseem Ahmed and Shaykh Muhammad Yaseen.
Ustadh Amin also has a PhD in English Law and currently holds the position of Lecturer in Public Law at Lancaster University Law School.
